A New Era

Penn State opens its 2012-13 football season this weekend with a game against the Ohio University Bobcats. With this new era beginning at Penn State, I think we Penn State fans should ask ourselves what Penn State Football really means to us. Is it really the football that brings all 110,000 of us to the games on Fall Saturdays, or is it much more? Penn State Football is about family, tradition, loyalty and pride. Every Saturday Penn State Football brings families, friends, and even the not so close together. Families will set aside their differences, friends will be friends, we all come together and though we may think it's the football it's really much more. It's about the company, the fun, the atmosphere, just a chance to get away. With all the turmoil the school and football program has faced this past year, it will be a relief just to get back to football. So when you pull up to your tailgating spot this Saturday, look around, see the familiar faces of friends and family and think to yourself this is what Penn State Football is really about. When Penn State takes the field Saturday remember to never stop cheering for who WE really ARE, PENN STATE.
